In just three years, Jordan and Simone have achieved what many professionals dream of – successfully transitioning from demanding corporate careers to running their own thriving digital business. After hitting their first $50,000 month and enabling Simone to leave her senior physiotherapy role, they’re now preparing for their next big milestone: starting a family.
A Strategic Path to Financial Freedom
When Jordan and Simone first started exploring online business opportunities in 2017, they took a methodical approach. Rather than immediately quitting their jobs – Jordan in cybersecurity and Simone as a senior physiotherapist – they began by building websites for friends and family while maintaining their full-time positions.
We were both working full-time and we really decided okay, how can we get out of, at least get Simone out of her full-time job and into working in the business, so we decided to focus on the agency side and really put a lot more focus and energy into that.
Their first milestone came in 2022 when they earned $1,000 online through their portfolio websites. Rather than rushing into larger investments, they started small by purchasing and renovating beginner websites in the $200-500 range. This allowed them to practice their skills before taking on bigger projects.
One of their early successes was a $6,500 website purchase that continues to generate $200-300 per month in passive income. “We didn’t just spend that amount of money on that site straight away,” Simone notes. “We bought $200, $500 websites first, put into practice what we had learned, and then we felt confident to be able to buy a bigger site.”
Building a Sustainable Digital Agency
The couple’s breakthrough came when they decided to focus primarily on their digital agency. They took a measured approach, with Simone first reducing her physiotherapy work to part-time while building the business. “You were part-time 18 months before you quit the job. So you were doing a five day fortnight,” Jordan recalls. “You were half in, one foot in one foot out in a way.”
This strategy allowed them to maintain financial security through Jordan’s corporate role while growing their agency. Once they consistently hit $10,000 in monthly revenue, they knew it was time for Simone to transition fully into the business.
The timing aligned perfectly with their wedding and honeymoon in late 2023. Simone resigned from her physiotherapy position between the wedding and their honeymoon, and when they returned in January, she dove fully into the business. The results were remarkable – they now consistently earn between $15,000-$25,000 monthly, with their first $50,000 month recently achieved.
Overcoming Personal Challenges
One of the most significant hurdles wasn’t technical but personal. For Simone, leaving her physiotherapy career meant confronting a major shift in professional identity. “Being a physio has been part of my identity for the last 10 years,” she reflects. “So shifting that mindset and focus and the belief that we really can do this was huge.”
The transformation extended beyond professional skills. Initially very shy, Simone found herself stepping far outside her comfort zone. After a year of hesitation, she joined a local BNI (Business Network International) chapter, eventually becoming vice president. “It was scary,” she admits. “But it has helped so much more from a self-development point of view, confidence in public speaking, all of those sorts of things.”
Creating a Sustainable Business Model
Today, their agency generates leads from multiple channels, with about 30% coming from BNI and 70% from their website and social media presence. They’ve recently secured a $60,000 website redesign project and maintain approximately $8,000 in monthly recurring revenue through maintenance plans and SEO services.
Their success stems partly from leveraging their unique backgrounds. Simone’s healthcare experience has helped them specialize in allied health websites, while Jordan’s technical expertise ensures top-quality delivery. “I know how the clinics run, I can speak their lingo,” Simone explains. “I understand who they’re wanting to target and the ins and outs of what you can and can’t do on an Allied Health website.”
Building for the Future
The couple’s achievement goes beyond monthly income – they’re building a valuable asset. With revenue approaching $30,000 monthly, their business could soon be worth seven figures. More importantly, they’ve created the flexibility and freedom they dreamed of, particularly as they prepare for parenthood.
In terms of looking at our future vision and what we wanted, thinking about when we have a family, I’d like to be able to be present and be at home, if there’s something fun on at school, I can go and do that.
Their story demonstrates that transitioning from corporate careers to entrepreneurship doesn’t require massive risks or overnight changes. By taking a measured approach over three years, maintaining stable income through Jordan’s job, and gradually building their skills and client base, they’ve created a sustainable business that supports their lifestyle goals.
For professionals considering a similar path, Jordan emphasizes the value of consistency over speed: “I always like the analogy of the ladder with little steps and just taking a little step. You’ll get to the same spot as everyone who takes the big steps, but just being consistent and making sure that we just improve, do something a little every day.”
